The Centre for Human Development and Social Transformation was formed in August 2005 to coordinate the ‘protect our future project’. The aim is to coordinate and support a programme of social transformation in Nigeria. The pilot scheme of the programme is currently running in the Niger Delta. The centre organises constant training for stakeholders on various aspects of human development & social transformation, this include: conflict resolution, peace education, democracy, environmental and human rights.
Organisational Status: The organisation was registered in 2005 with the Rivers State Government as an NGO involved in Development and Social Work. The registration Number is MYEE/YD/20/5175. Thereafter it applied to the Corporate Affairs Commission and was registered as a Not for Profit organisation limited by guarantee in July 2008. The name was subsequently changed from The Centre for Human Development and Social Transformation to The Centre for Social Transformation and Human Development. The registration number is: Rc 759470.
