    Organizational structure: The Association is comprised of over 77,000 members in all states of the United States as well as numerous other countries. The Association is governed by a House of Delegates, the members of which serve as the trustees of the Association; there are currently 299 members of the House, representing the officers of the Association, elected delegates, past presidents, section delegates, and delegates from county and local bar associations. There is also an Executive Committee comprised of the officers of the Association, members-at-large, and the immediate past president. The Executive Committee is charged with managing the business, affairs and activities of the Association. The Association has 25 Sections, which are based on members' common interests in substantive areas of law. The sections range in size from 500 to over 5,000. In particular, the International Section is comprised of over 2200 members, with 50 chapters throughout the world.     Number and type of members: 77,000 total members, consisting of "active" members, who are members of the legal profession in good standing admitted to practice in the State of New York; "non-resident" members, who are non-residents of the State of New York who are members of the legal profession in good standing in any other state or country; and "law student" members, who are law students in good standing in any law school in the State of New York or, if a resident of New York, in any law school outside of the State.
