Mission statement:	ALIVE exists to promote, foster, and develop the social, cultural, economic, and physical well-being of urban Aboriginal peoples. ALIVE works through a place-based strategy, utilizing strategic partnerships with existing NGOs, service providers, local businesses and developers, public sector services, as well as local and provincial governments to ensure the meaningful, respectful inclusion of urban Aboriginal peoples in their multicultural communities. The goal is to create accountable, responsive, integrated, and holistic service networks that can support urban Aboriginal people in the neighbourhoods in which they live. ALIVE works to support mainstream community services that reflect and include the needs, cultures, aspirations and aptitudes of Aboriginal community members.

Organizational structure:	ALIVE is a community membership-based organization which works to bring the voice of the grassroots membership base to mainstream community governments, services and community institutions. ALIVE works under the direction of a board of directors elected from the membership base as well as an appointed Executive Director. ALIVE conducts projects through strategic partnerships with existing NGOs, community service providers, and local and provincial governments.
Number and type of members:	ALIVE currently has over 600 voting Aboriginal members from across Canada. These members include Elders, youth and families. ALIVE also offers non-voting membership to non-Aboriginal peoples and organizations who agree to support and promote ALIVE's goals and strategic vision.
