Purpose of the organization: | ALIVE exists to promote, foster and develop the social, cultural, economic and physical well-being of urban Aboriginal peoples. ALIVE works through strategic partnerships with existing NGOs, service providers, mainstream community institutions and local and provincial governments to support the development of inclusive, integrated, holistic local service networks that reflect and respect the needs, cultures, aspirations and aptitudes of urban Aboriginal community members, and allow the meaningful participation of Aboriginal peoples as leaders and partners, not clients or patients. |

Involvement in Public Administration: | ALIVE has acted as an advisor to Vancouver city council, the UAPAC (Urban Aboriginal Peoples Advisory Committee to the city of Vancouver), Vancouver Parks Board, and the Downtown Eastside and Urban Aboriginal committees in the Vancouver LAPP (Local Area Planning Process). ALIVE has also presented findings and recommendations to Assembly of First Nations task force on Indigenous Women. |
