Publications: OMEP has a scholarly journal -- The International Journal of Early Childhood, published with Springer. This journal, published three times a year, includes peer-reviewed articles about a variety of topics relating to children's general well-being, health, rights, and early education and care. Through this journal, OMEP increases awareness among our members and other readers around the world about global children's issues and avenues for them to participate in civil society activities to promote the well being of children. For example, a recent issue included information about the SDGs and encouraged readers to become involved in the global conversation. We have also published numerous journal articles, reports, and book chapters on sustainable development, including the following (partial list): Engdahl, I., & Ärlemalm-Hagsér, E. (2014). Social Development

Affiliation with other organizations: VIRTUALLY ALL OF OMEPS ACTIVITIES, PROJECTS AND PARTNERSHIPS DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY INVOLVE SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT -- OF INDIVIDUALS, GROUPS, AND/OR THE SOCIETIES TO WHICH THEY BELONG. FOR EXAMPLE, OUR WORK IN EARLY EDUCATON EDUCATION FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT (ESD) INVOLVES ALL THREE PILLARS OF SUSTAINABILITY: HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT, VIABLE ECONOMIES, AND EQUITABLE AND JUST SOCIETIES. AS AN ILLUSTRATION, THE ESD RATING SCALE CURRENTLY BEING TESTED INCLUDES ITEMS FROM EACH PILLAR INCLUDING THE SOCIAL PILLAR. AS ANOTHER EXAMPLE, OMEP’S AND UNICEF’S COLLABORATION ON WASH FROM THE START ENGAGES NOT ONLY CHILDREN, BUT ALSO TEACHERS, SCHOOLS, PRESCHOOLS, HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS, AND THE COMMUNITY IN A VARIETY OF ACTIVITIES TO PROMOTE WATER, SANITATION AND HYGIENE EDUCATION AND PRACTICES. FURTHER EXAMPLES: (1) A SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT COMPONENT IS OBVIOUS IN OMEP’S WORK WITH THE MIGRATION COMMITTEE AND THE WORKING GROUP ON CHILD REFUGESS TO DEVELOP SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL INTERVENTION AND SUPPORT MATERIALS FOR PARENTS, TEACHERS, AND VOLUNTEEERS IN REFUGEE CAMPS AND (2) STRENGTHENING OF CIVIL SOCIETY PARTICIPATION BY COLLEGE STUDENTS AND OTHER YOUNG PEOPLE IS EVIDENT IN OMEP’S WORK TO DEVELOP COLLEGIATE CHAPTERS, SUPPORT YOUTH REPRESENTATIVES TO THE UNITED NATIONS, AND DEVELOP CHILDREN HELPING CHILDREN PROJECTS IN SCHOOLS.
