As an organisation CREUMHS has been an accredited NGO to the UNFCCC since in 1997, and an accreditted NGO to the UNEP in 2005 and accreditted to the UN Habitat since 1995• CREUMH as an organization is committed to the promotion at the African Continent of the adoption of the UN 2030 Agenda and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as set out in the UN universal strategic framework for sustainable development. CREUMHS supports and subscribes to the principle of the UN promise of leaving no one behind. To this end CREUMHS is commmmited to focusing on the SDGs that have a significant relevance to sustainable environmental governance and management of natural resources and the built environment. Hence, CREUMH focus on the environmental dimension is guided by the SDGs and these include and are primarily but not limited to SDG 6- targets 6.1, 6.3, 6..4, 6.5, 6.6, 6a, 6.b; SDG 7, SDG 11- targets 11.2, 11.3, 11.4, 11.6, 11.7, 11.b, 11.c; SDG 12; SDG 13; SDG 14; SDG 15.
CREUMHS has been active in CSO multi state holder Consultative processes and Dialogues of the UN Environment, UN Habitat and participation in Climate Change Networks of the UN FCC including the participation in United Nations Climate Change Conference Sessions of the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action (ADP) in Bonn Germany and participation in various COPs of the UNFCCC.
As part of the African NGOs Forum for the WSSD CREUMHS delegate’s participation in the WSSD in Johannesburg was a significant occasion as it enabled and facilitated the registration to the UN WSSD of a large number of African NGOs and CBOs to the UN summit held in the African Continent for the first time.
