Purpose of the organization: OUR VISION To have communities in Tanzania that have the capacity to address strategically their own problems and find solutions to them as a means of combating poverty and achieving social, economic and political development
Activities relevant to the conference of States Parties to the convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities: We have participated in the International conference on Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples(EMRIP) 2015 in Geneva and presented a paper on the situation of Indigenous peoples in Tanzania on how their rights are abused
Confirmation of the activities of the organization at the regional, national or international level: PROGRAMMES •Governance and Democracy •Health and HIV/AIDS education •Human Rights Advocacy •Economic Empowerment •Cultural and Social Development, Recently;a) On 25th October 2015 my country Tanzania held General elections. With the knowledge I gained after attending the EMRIP we worked in collaboration with other networks in providing civic education and voter education to the people in our society who are indigenous. The training included their rights to vote as well as their rights to contest for various positions such as Councillor, Member of Parliament. Village leadership. Furthermore, we encouraged people with disabilities who are eligible to participate because it is their right. In view of gender equality we also encouraged women who have been marginalized in the indigenous people societies to come out and vote or contest for the various positions. We held a different session with the women during the training. b) In order to be engaged in decision making bodies at village and district level we provide training to the people in the communities both men and women how they can participate in government structure and policy formulation. c) We conducted formal meetings to promote peace and security for farmers and pastoralists who have been fighting for a long time over land ownership in Morogoro and Manyara regions. d) We also trained the indegineous people on inheritance rights of properties and land, women/girls rights. e) We mobilized them to establish income generation groups in order to supplement family income in view of removing economic dependence and abolish domestic violence.
A list of members of the governing body of the organization, and their countries of nationality: 3.1 Board, executive committee, membership, staff, volunteers, interns etc: AGM is the highest body of SEGP,. The AGM meets once a year. Its objectives are to deliberate and approve policies, rules and regulations. budgets and incomes, annual reports of activities and expenditures includes audit report as well as elections of leaders. The executive Committee is elected by members during AGM. The current Executive Committee was elected in December,2011. The Executive Committee is composed of 6 members. As leaders and office bearers they serve a period of 4 years and reviewable for the same post .The composition of the current executive Committee is as follows; •Chairperson: Mr.Abbas Hasani •Vice-chairperson :Tadei Mwacha •Secretary General: Mr.Lumona M. Kibore •Three Members 1.Mrs. Bernadeta Sana 2.Ramadhani Issa 3.Hamimu Rukara
