Major group affiliation:
  • Non-governmental organization
Involvement in UN Partnerships: Yes
If yes, explain in detail: INESC works essentially with themes in connection with fiscal justice. INESC has developed an analysis methodology that links Human Rights and Public Budgets to evaluate goals in the realization of rights established by the ESCR Covenant and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. We intend to contribute with the effort to analyze how the Brazilian Government, as well as the governments of other Latin American countries where we are also active in the Fiscal Justice Campaign, are informing Member States and other organizations about these contents and their positions vis-à-vis the Brazilian and regional civil society. INESC works in close collaboration with Brazilian social movements linked to issues of land, socio-environmental, Indigenous, women’s and African-Brazilian women’s and LGBTI rights, as well as to themes in connection with participative democracy (the Brazilian experience) and transparency in the actions of governments. We are also contributing with the Ecuadorian proposal of a binding Treaty to oblige companies to submit to the international Human Rights framework, in addition to their current compliance by the States.
