Involvement in UN Partnerships: Yes
If yes, explain in detail: 1) post-2015: Landesa has engaged in efforts with the post-2015 Development Agenda process including submitting a paper to the inequalities consultation on women and land as well as 6 other online consultations through The World We Want website. We have also participated in some of the HLP meetings with NGOs/CSOs. 2) UNICEF: Our team in China is currently working very closely with the All-China Women's Federation and UNICEF on a pilot project on Women's Land Titling. 3) UN-HABITAT: Landesa is a member of the GLTN, we have performed contracted work with UN-HABITAT, and we have worked on indicators during an expert meeting on land rights. 4) UNDP: We have worked in the 1990s with UNDP in China on a few small projects, including the Local Township Development Project and a Book on Land Law and Policy 5) UNECA: We are currently in conversation with the Land Policy Initiative in Africa (of which UN-ECA is a part of) to partner on parts of Objective 5 as well as create an overarching Gender Strategy for all the LPI Objectives. 6) UN-FAO: We have partnered with UN-FAO in India on policy workshops, research, been contracted for various projects, and written 2 papers - one on Land & Livelihoods and Homesteads in India. We have participated in many various speaking engagements outside of UN-FAO. We have also been active participants in forming the Voluntary Guidelines, including participating in the expert group on women and land. We also recently worked on the e-platform to communicate and teach the various aspects of the Voluntary Guidelines. One of our staff members, Renee Giovarelli, was seconded to UN-FAO to work on women and land issues. 7) UN Women: Elisa Scalise participated in expert group meetings in the past two years on women and land. We have also written papers for UN Women as well as received funding for evaluations (in India). 8) CSW: Participated in at least two meetings (2012, 2013) and spoke at an official side event (Elisa Scalise about women and land). 9) CEDAW: Landesa's gender expert on the China team, Wang Xiaobei, wrote the women and land piece of the shadow report for China (for All-China Women's Federation) which will be included in China's complete shadow report for CEDAW. It is yet to be translated into English.

Purpose of the organization: Landesa works to secure land rights for the world’s poorest people– those 2.47 billion* chiefly rural people who live on less than two dollars a day. Landesa partners with developing country governments to design and implement laws, policies, and programs concerning land that provide opportunity, further economic growth, and promote social justice. Landesa works with governments and other local organizations to create tailored approaches to expand land rights to the rural poor. Our work is by invitation, and ranges from short-term assignments to long-term engagements, and involves activities including: •initial assessments to identify existing laws, policies and cultural conditions •collaborating with public officials to adopt pro land policies •assisting in implementation of new laws to benefit landless families •monitoring and evaluating impact * World Bank, 2012 World Development Indicators 71-72 (2012) (based on 2008 data).

Our work is by invitation, and ranges from short-term assignments to long-term engagements, and involves activities including: •initial assessments to identify existing laws, policies and cultural conditions that are pro-poor, and add pro-poor laws •collaborating with public officials to adopt pro-poor land policies and laws •assisting in implementation of laws to benefit landless and land-poor families •monitoring and evaluating impact of changes in law and policy •collaborating with public officials to adopt policies and laws to strengthen women's property rights
