Purpose of the organization: The primary purpose of the IARS in humanitarian response is to meet the immediate needs of affected women, men, boys, girls, and all/diverse genders in the most impoverished communities in the world. Recognizing that people have the fundamental right to life with dignity, IARS also strives to address the underlying causes of people’s vulnerability. The specific purpose and objectives of the International American Relief Society IARS shall include, but not be limited to, the following: A. Responding to humanitarian emergencies is an essential part of IARS’s work to fight poverty and injustice, and we recognize that emergencies are a cause and effect of both. IARS seeks to help people cope with crises through disaster risk reduction, emergency relief, preparedness, and post-crisis recovery. B. The International American Relief Society IARS helps “deprived, excluded and vulnerable people living in poverty have the capacity to become self-sufficiency, and leaders who bring lasting and positive change to their communities. Working hand in hand with communities around the world, to improve the life of the underprivileged people, economics, social and spiritual conditions of the world’s poor. C. To provide support to the homeless, and other in needed people in the world. D. To commit to walking with people on their journeys to self-sufficiency; We know that our work not only makes a difference in the lives of those we serve but will change our whole community for the better.
Activities relevant to the conference of States Parties to the convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities: Recognizing that the United Nations, in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and in the International Covenants on Human Rights, has proclaimed and agreed that everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth therein, without distinction of any kind
