Purpose of the organization: Women and Social Capital Program: Women Equity Fund Women have historically demonstrated great organizational capacity, leading a large percentage of community and territorial organizations. ComunidadMujer is convinced that it is important and necessary to support this strength to strengthen the social fabric of local communities. That is the spirit of the CommunityWomen Award. Since 2006, this initiative distinguishes grassroots women-led organizations that successfully carry out an activity that helps their community, mobilizing around it other social organizations, creating, developing and enhancing the social capital associated with the territory. From 2013, in its eighth version, ComunidadMujer decided to deepen the sense of this recognition, transforming it into a Competitive Fund. Since 2016, this fund is part of the Women and Social Capital Program, which seeks to empower recognized organizations by training their members and strengthening their Social Capital, both internally and externally, by promoting Associativity and networking. The Women and Social Capital Program incorporates five areas of work that seek to amplify the impact of this initiative: the Social Capital Contest Fund: Women for Equity, accompaniment during project execution, training and support in network management. In this programmatic context, the fund is transformed into a tool for organizations to contribute to generate new and better opportunities for the empowerment of women, promoting from their communities the construction of a more inclusive and egalitarian society.
