Affiliation with other organizations: WES hosts IMPRINT, a coalition of organizations that advocate for policies that reduce the systemic barriers facing skilled immigrants and refugees which lead to "brain waste" and underemployment relative to skills and talent they bring to the host country. WES also partners on a project basis with research institutes, for example, the Migration Policy Institute and New American Economy, to gather and publish evidence for sound immigration, education and workforce policies. Also WES belongs to professional associations of credential evaluation agencies that maintain best practice standards in our field.
Publications: WES publishes free web resources, webinars and tools as well as World Education News and Review (WENR),an online monthly publication of international educational trends and analysis.
Purpose of the organization: WES is devoted to the successful economic and social integration of newcomers in an increasingly mobile workforce that needs a range of supports to navigate opportunities and pitfalls on arrival in a new country. Working with local and national partners in the United States and Canada, WES facilitates the integration of individuals educated in more than 200 countries by providing an equivalency of their foreign credential and resources and programs to support their integration. AS such it supports social inclusion of migrants ad achievement of their economic and educational goals.
Confirmation of the activities of the organization at the regional, national or international level: WES participates in regional, national and international conferences regularly to share its expertise and promote recognition of international credentials as a building block of labor and skills mobility in a global economy. We actively participated as a member of civil society and the private sector in the recent Global Compact on Migration process from the outset - both through the Global Forum on Migration and Development (workshop speaker) and by making oral and written submissions on topics where we have expertise. We participated in the Regional Civil Society consultation as part of that process. We associate with organizations at the cutting edge of technology in our field of credential assessment and recognition, and have long standing relationships with European and Canadian organizations involved in similar work.
