Purpose of the organization: To fill a vaccume in knowledge of indigenous human rights, especially territorial rights among native peoples and governments, where there are deficits leaving discretion for the viiolation of indigenous rights. We are focussed on the legal validity of free, prior and informed consent and training on this point, especially on technical and other assistance to increase indigenous capacity for exercising consent independently. We are contributing and participating in a program called the Movement for the Abya Yala Protocols which seeks to graft key territorial and consent rules from the Interamerican Human Rights Systems to native peoples customary decision making and territorial rights.
Confirmation of the activities of the organization at the regional, national or international level: We have just concluded 2 years of presenting programs to universities and indigenous peoples in Bolivia, Peru, Chile, Argentina and Colombia. Presentations have been made in a law school and anthropology department in Peru. We have gained key contacts and identified potential staff. We have done presentations trainings with women including Paloma Abregu, Chanka Quechua in Peru (NGO director), Beatriz Bautista, Aymara in Bolivia (legal defense of indigenous peoples, Flor Maria Solano, head of Cabildo, Zenu, Colombia, Ivana Olivares, historian, Diaguita Chile. These are participating and developing our work and sit on our advisory board.
