Affiliation with other organizations: JRF’s current affiliations include: ¿ Formed partnership with Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) to target hunger and disease in the target India regions of New Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai. JRF has initiated the process of formalizing key collaborative agreements with key governmental agencies and institutions of research, including the Office of the Prime Minister; Ministry of Women and Child Development; National Research and Development Corporation; and the Indian Agricultural Research Institute. As a byproduct of this relationship with BAPS, JRF has also engaged the most prominent nongovernmental organizations, including conferences with Tushar Gandhi, the great-grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, who currently heads up the Mahatma Gandhi Foundation; and the Indian Network for People Living with HIV/AIDS (INP+), the largest India-based network and service provider for persons with HIV. ¿ In response to Hurricane Noel of 2007, JRF formed a partnership with the Permanent Mission of the Dominican Republic to complete a medical mission in the most hurricane-devastated regions of the Dominican Republic. ¿ In June, 2008, JRF and IISAM formalized a vital partnership with the Israeli Medical Association designed to expand medical expertise in the most war-, poverty- and disease-stricken areas of Israel. With JRF functioning as the overall administrator, the Israeli Medical Association (IMA) will serve as the primary mechanism to recruit and identify physicians with appropriate and diverse medical expertise. Additionally, JRF went to Israel and worked with the Israel Defense Forces Medical Corps to provide a comprehensive three day conference on Bio-Terrorism, Nuclear Disaster and Emergency Response in the United States that was attended by medical professionals, police and fire departments from all over the country. JRF has also established a physicians’ exchange program with Israel should the country go to war.

Purpose of the organization: As the international extension of JRF, "Operation Lifeline International" has directed numerous medical missions to underdeveloped nations and states, particularly those most devastated by war, disease, and poverty. In partnership with indigenous synagogues, community-based organizations, and other faith-based organizations, JRF organizes volunteer medical professionals for short- and long-term missions, and to provide training and technical support for indigenous providers. Missions have been completed in the following nations(only a representative sampling): Haiti, Hungary, the Ukraine, Jamaica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Israel, India, Jamaica, and Puerto Rico. In addition, medical clinics have also been established in the Ukraine and Israel. JRF has organized a vast cadre of volunteer medical professionals and educators, including physicians, medical specialists, surgeons, and nurses who volunteer extensive time, finances, and their medical expertise – our medical volunteers are the heart and soul of OLI. Coupled with their medical skills, the majority of our medical professionals are multi-lingual. Besides bringing their expertise and commitment to travel to virtually any destination, our medical professionals also bring much needed medical and educational materials. In all instances, in addition to providing direct medical attention and beyond the coordination of specific medical missions, we continue to operate as medical and technical advisors to indigenous NGOs, providers, government leaders, and other stakeholders in order to ensure that the care we initiated is sustained within the highest standards of patient care.
Activities relevant to the conference of States Parties to the convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities: Recent missions and accomplishments include: Jewish Renaissance School at Tabarre – Working in partnership with an indigenous corps of Haiti-based government leaders, community organizers, non-governmental organizations, business owners, educators, and other stakeholders, JRF-OLI recently completed the “Jewish Renaissance School at Tabarre”, an alternative system of high-quality education for 400 high-risk Tabarre children, ages 6-9. Situated on approximately one acre of land donated by two local Haitian leaders (both former police commissioners for the Haitian national government), JRF constructed a 3,000 square foot state-of-art-facility in place of a dilapidated school structure. Intercultural Alliance to Combat Malnutrition and HIV/AIDS in India - In 2007, a unique coalition of the Jewish Renaissance Foundation and the Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) established an alliance to combat the escalating rate of hunger and HIV in the nation of India. Medical Relief for Victims of Hurricane Noel – In 2008, in partnership with the Permanent Mission of the Dominican Republic and the United Nations Economic and Social Council, the Jewish Renaissance Foundation completed a medical mission in the most hurricane-devastated regions of the Dominican Republic. In tandem with the United Nations and with the local medical community, JRF assembled and deployed medical personnel and volunteers, including the logistical support needed. Building Medical Capacity for Ethopia- In May, 2008, to address the severe shortage of trained medical personnel, particularly medical doctors, JRF formed a partnership with the Ministry of Health of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to recruit, train, and deploy doctors, surgeons, and OB/GYN specialists.
Confirmation of the activities of the organization at the regional, national or international level: Jewish Renaissance School at Tabarre – Adjacent to Tabarre’s “Tent City” where many of the island’s most impoverished children and families take refuge, the former building only consisted of one 1,200 square foot classroom serving 40 children. In its place, JRF completed a new structure – the school recently opened its doors on October 1, 2011 with a full enrollment of 100 Tabarre children. JRST will grow to 400 students over the next three years. Intercultural Alliance to Combat Malnutrition and HIV/AIDS in India – The coalition of BAPS and JRF assembled a team of the world’s foremost medical, nutritional, and international leaders to address severe food shortages and nutritional deficiencies associated with extreme poverty. Medical Relief for Victims of Hurricane Noel – During our stay, JRF’s medical volunteers provided direct care to over 300 children and families, including performing an estimated 240 much-needed vaccinations. In addition to responding to the most urgent medical needs, JRF’s medical team is a part of a much broader effort to form longer-term plans to stabilize the area, and to address ongoing factors affecting the local healthcare system. Building Medical Capacity for Ethopia – This partrnership will enable Ethiopia to achieve MDGs, and more broadly, the nation’s overall capacity to withstand its growing medical challenges.
